About Responsible Tourism Program
The Responsible Tourism Program is a framework developed to promote a more sustainable tourism where companies, destinations and municipalities work together for increased environmental responsibility, support more resource-efficient solutions, and strengthen local community development. The program is based on the Global Sustainability Tourism Council (GSTC) global standard for sustainable tourism.

Through the program, improvement initiatives are carried out, both indivudually and in the network of companies that belong to the companies. These benefit visitors and residents alike, create jobs and viable businesses, and take place on the terms of nature and culture. This approach is increasingly important as more and more visitors seek to leave the places they visit in a better condition than they found them.
The Program at a glance
Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is an initiative from the United Nations where 41 universal standards for sustainable tourism have been developmed. They are connected to Agenda 2030 och global sustainability goals. Our Responsible Tourism Program is based on these standards.
Local sustainability advisors support organisations development towards a responsible and more sustainable tourism. Competence-increasing workshops and seminars are carried out indvidually and together with other businesses in the network.
Companies, destinations and municipalities work together for increased environmental responsibility, support more resource-efficient solutions, and strengthen local community development - all with the goal of creating better places for people to live in and visit.

DECLARATION OF INTENT

Signing a Declaration of Intent where your commitment for sustainability and following the founding principles of sustainable tourism is expressed.
ANALYSIS & MEASUREMENT
​
An advisor will visit you for half a day.
Together you do a run-through of your business from a sustainability perspective.
The analysis will take place from global sustainability criteria, and afterwards you will get a report with tangible advise, tailored to your specific business and circumstances.

IMPROVEMENT WORK
​
You embark on your sustainability journey with prioritised improvement work identified during the analysis.
​
You get to participate in networking and both in-person and digital competence-increasing activities, both individually and together with others.
PROCESS
The value for businesses that participate
As a participating company in the program, you and your business will have access to a range of competence-increasing documents, templates and workshops. You will also have access to an image bank with both moving and still images to use in marketing, completely free of charge!
Prepare your business for certification – the program is an excellent first step to creating the conditions for moving on to future certification.
